China Years Slot Machine

In China they’re known for their over the top holiday celebrations. China
Years is 777igt’s tribute to these celebrations for you to enjoy.

The game is one of 777igts older games which is obvious from the understated
look of the game. The background is basic and so are the symbols found on the
reels. Even with it being an older game you still get all the excitement you’re
looking for when playing a slot machine.

This game doesn’t have a huge intro attached to it but that’s fine with us
because it makes up for the lack of fanfare with the special features it offers
throughout your game. The jackpots that are a staple of a 777igt game are
available along with the customary free spins and bonus game.

You see many symbols in the game that represent some familiar icon of the
Chinese culture and even though they aren’t over the top they give you a chance
to win big.

China Years Slot Machine Overview

Atmosphere / Background

The background of the game gives the feel of being at a celebration such as
the Chinese New Year. In the background it looks as though you’re looking at a
city that is lit up from the fireworks that are burst above.

It seems as if you’re out at sea watching the fireworks show. The colors used
in the game are great and the blending of purples, blues, and black make for a
beautifully crafted atmosphere.

This game, unlike many of the other 777igt games we’ve played, does display
the title above the reels. The title is housed in a red tapestry right in the
center which balances out the game setup.

The frame that the reels sit in is understated and not super noticeable. The
green and gold work well together and give the reels an elegant home.

We enjoyed the understated feel of the game. This gave the game a more
relaxing feel and made us want to play longer. Some games can overwhelm you with
all the extra things going on but China Years isn’t one of those games.

Music and Sound Effects

The soundtrack used for the background music is a classic upbeat Chinese
tune. The flute and xylophone combined makes for a happy sounding track that
goes well with the theme of the game. It certainly makes you feel like you’re at
a celebration.

Other than the background music you hear the reels spin and a notification of
a win on the reels. These sounds are similar to what you hear in other games but
with a twist that makes it fit more with the theme of the game.

Any time you get a win on the reels you hear the money being dropped into
your bank as though the coins are really being added to your account. This is
something that isn’t necessarily needed but adds a little more excitement to the
win.

Animations

With this game being one of the older games from the designer you expect it
to have little to no animations. This game doesn’t have any mind blowing
animations but there are some that you see throughout the game and special
features.

The one animation that you see the most of is the coins bouncing to their new
home in your bank after you get a win on the reels. This animation combined with
the sound effect of those coins being added to your bank makes each win
exciting.

Like in most of the other games the largest amount of animation you see is
located in the bonus game. When you trigger the bonus game it’s announced with
the words Bonus Game flashing across the screen and flashes of golden fireworks.

Symbol Graphics

Some of the symbols used in the game are hard to tell what they are if you
have no knowledge of the Chinese culture or their alphabet. This doesn’t hinder
your ability to play the game though because you just have to be able to pick
the symbols out visually, you don’t have to know what they stand for to win.

On the other hand the more common symbols related to the theme that are
represented are well done. The lantern and fan symbols are crafted with great
detail and are two of my favorites in the game.

China Years Slot Extra Feature

One thing that makes this game different from many others on the market today
is its special features. This game doesn’t have just a couple either; it has a
total of 7 special features. That’s right we said 7. These features vary from
different jackpot levels to the more well-known features such as free spins and
wild symbols. Below we describe each of these features.

The jackpots come in three different sizes.

Mega jackpot

Gives the biggest pay out of the game. You must get 5 of the
Red Scalloped Circle symbols to trigger this big win. This jackpot can only be
won if you meet these guidelines.

Minor jackpot

You have to get 5 of the green diamond symbols. This jackpot
won’t have as big a payout as the Mega but it’s still a good chunk of change.

Mini jackpot

This jackpot can be won when you get 5 of the red and black
diamond symbols on the reels at the same time. Just like its name you win a
smaller pay out if you win this jackpot but who really cares as long as you win
right.

The wild symbol represented by firecrackers subs for all of the regular
symbols in the game. This wild symbol won’t sub for the scatter, bonus, free
spin, or any of the jackpot symbols which is a bummer, but having the wild
available is always a plus.

The scatter symbol for this game is represented by a red and gold diamond.
This symbol triggers a multiplier for you when you receive three or more of them
anywhere on the reels. The multiplier increases with the number of symbols.

The free spins that this game has available are triggered by the symbol of a
traditional dragon costume that is worn during most celebrations. When you get 3
or more of these symbols on the reels you’re awarded free spins. The amount of
spins you win is based on the number of symbols on the reels. The spins start
automatically and continue until all of the free spins have completed.

China Years has a bonus game that’s triggered when you receive 3 or more of
the lantern bonus symbols anywhere on the reels. When you trigger the bonus game
you’re taken to a different screen where you get two chances to rack up the
winnings. In this bonus game you get two chances to spin the Chinese Zodiac
wheel of fortune. When you spin the bonus wheel; each of the hands stops at a
different place. After your two spins your total wins from each round are added
together and added to your bank.

Betting Options

China Years has 100 pay line options. The pay lines in this game aren’t fixed
and allow you to change the number of pay lines you want to play each time you
spin. When you place your wager the game automatically divides up your wager to
cover the selected pay lines.

This game is a little different when it comes to changing the amount of pay
lines you play than other games out there. You can still choose how many you
want to play but you can only go up and down in increments of 10. Which means
you can play anywhere from 10 pay lines up to 100 pay lines at a time. This
might bug some people who like to have complete control but it doesn’t really
change the way the game is played much.

Pay lines are added to games to help you increase your chances of winning so
it’s important that you play all of the lines available. When you start changing
the number of pay lines you’re playing you risk missing out on wins because they
fall on lines you aren’t playing.

This game offers you the ability to change the value of your bet after each
spin. The range of betting is set from .01 to $1 per spin.

The betting options for this game give everyone a chance to win. You don’t
have to be a high roller to feel comfortable playing this game. So if you’re a
more conservative player this game can work for you just fine.

Game Rules

China Years game rules are in line with most other 5 reel slot machines.
Below are the main rules:

  • Most wins are formed from right to left, beginning with the leftmost reel.
  • If two or more wins are formed in the same line, only the highest payout is awarded.
  • Any misuse or malfunction aborts the game and everything is reset to default.
  • The wild card cannot start free spins; you must get three or more scatter symbols to receive free spins.
  • Scatter symbols triggers free spins from anywhere on the reels.
  • Bonus game is triggered when three or more bonus symbols appear normal win line from left to right.
  • The wild subs for all symbols except the scatter and bonus symbols.
  • The wild and scatter symbols also have a payout amount when they appear on a win line.
  • Jackpots can only be won when the designated symbol is found on the reels 5 times.

Conclusion

China Years gives you a chance to experience what a traditional Chinese
holiday celebration is really like. From the beautiful design of the background
to the amazing special features you have available you get a great experience
each time you play the game.

Although this game seems to be one of the earlier games for 777igt it still
gives a great visual experience. The symbols are understated and don’t have much
as far as animation extras but this doesn’t mean they aren’t well crafted. They
could have used more of the well-known symbols for the game but we found that
trying to figure out what the characters meant was just as fun.

Like all of the 777igt games we’ve played this game has great pay outs
attached to its symbols. These pay outs are not only in the special features but
in the regular game play as well. You can’t go wrong when you can win up to 50
times your wager even on the lowest paying symbol in the game.

One of the best things about the game is the three jackpots that you have the
opportunity to win. These jackpots start out big but they don’t stop there
because they keep accumulating the longer you play, which gives you a reason to
keep playing. Just remember it’s unlikely that these jackpots will be triggered
when you play but that doesn’t take the fun away from hoping luck is on your
side.

Give China Years a try. If you weren’t before playing this game we bet you
become a fan of the Chinese culture before you’re done. Remember that this game,
no matter how fun and exciting, is still a slot machine and if you aren’t
careful it just might wipe you out. Even with all the available ways to win if
you don’t have a stopping point you can lose everything.
